"This exhibition took place in the entrance hall of KABK, a typical non-space that students and staff hurry through and do not pay much attention to. The space was pared back to its original architecture, while all of the usual accruements of the entrance were used as the basis of new works. Antique display cases that usually flank the walls were placed so as to disrupt the usual paths of users. The live streaming of the space habitually projected on the back wall was replaced with a historical image of previous generations in the building. Poster boards became sculptures. The space was activated, remembering its own institutional past and calling attention to itself as an institutional space in the present".

The public is guided into an empty space, where the performance that is announced will take place. After a while a person enters, walks to the end of the space and puts an A4 paper on the wall with tape. On the paper the text above is written. After putting up the paper, the person stays in the space and waits together with the public.

podium for observation, publication for the exhibition test assembly panorama kijkduin. in collaboration with laure van den hout in commission for stroom den haag, july 2010. full colour, 29,7x42cm.
This publication constitutes a podium for the visual material and texts that are brought together according to the keywords light, nature, perception and science. These are concepts that refer to the artwork Celestial Vault by the American artist James Turrell, which he realized in 1996 as a commission by Stroom The Hague in Kijkduin (The Hague). In this work Turrell created conditions that made the observer aware of the light as an almost physical material. The publication finds itself between the exhibition Test Assembly Panorama Kijkduin (Stroom The Hague, June 26 through August 29, 2010) and the municipal plans for a cultural component in the redevelopment of Kijkduin. The idea is that this publication can connect these two points in time by functioning as a complementary exhibition space. In other words, it's not a catalogue but material that can be read in dialogue with the exhibition and will still have the right to exist after the exhibition.
